The Terlano region in Alto Adige Italy is all about age-worthy white wines and white wine blends based around Pinot Blanc! If you’ve never had a Pinot Biano before then this might be the best place on earth to try it.
Alto Adige Terlano DOC is a light, straw-colored white wine, with a distinctive, fruity and delicate scent. The taste is dry and slightly acidic. This type of wine can also be found under the name Alto Adige Südtirol/ Südtiroler Terlaner DOC. If the label mentions Classico, Klassisch or Klassisches Ursprungsgebiet, it means that the wine originated in the so-called classical part of the zone surrounding the cities of Terlano, Adriano and Nalles. The Riserva DOC is aged for a minimum of 2 years and the minimum alcohol content is 11.5%. If the label mentions “Vigna” (Gewächs or Wachstum), followed by the name of a place, it refers to a specific vineyard area or a “micro zone”. We’re so grateful to have visited the Alto Adige region in 2018, drove through the wine road and stop to taste at #ElenaWalchCellars, #Manincor and #NalsMagried. We decided to buy this Cantina Terlano Pinot Bianc 2021 to reminence of our wonderful time! Can you image that it’s been 5-years ago! The wine is a great accompaniment to light antipasti, vegetable risotto and grilled fish. What are you favorite regions and varietals in Alto Adige?!
