Esterlina Pinot Noir Alexander Valley 2004

We bought this bottle at the winery during our Mendocino County wine trip with our good friends Rob and Robert back in June 2007. I distinctly remember visiting this winery five years ago because of its breathtaking views of their wine tasting deck! It’s slightly off the beaten path of HWY 128 and through a windy drive up a hill. The views were spectacular, hands down the best in the Alexander Valley, but on top of that, the tasting was just so fun and relaxing. We were greeted by Leigh and her playful dogs. She sat with us on the porch as she served us cheese puffs, poured glasses of some of her best vintages, and told us about the family who owns Esterlina (which suprisingly has a connection with Sterling and Everett Ridge) as we leisurely took in the views and sunshine.  The joy of opening this bottle tonight brought me back to the fantastic day five years ago.  Each sip was still magical with nice layers of cherry flavors.  We drank this bottle with a juicy rib-eye steak after a victorious Giants game against the Texas Rangers!! Go Giants and Go Esterlina!!
