Mother’s Day at Wine & Roses

We had a lovely dinner with mom at our favorite restaurant in Lodi — Wine & Roses!!  We started with the Taste of Lodi (trio of olive oil, homemade focaccia bread and olive tapenade).  The olive oils were from Tuscany, Sicily and Lodi — the table’s favorite choice was a ‘no brainer.’  We proceeded with a 3-hour pork belly, lamb chops and freshly made pappardelle with asparagus and spicy shrimp!  All the dishes paired nicely with our McCay Jupiter Zinfandel 2009 from Lodi.  A fruit forward nose, with Cola, Tabaco and Dry Sandalwood. Through the palate this Zinfandel shows, Black Cherry, Raspberry, Hazelnut and finishes with soft tannins. This Zinfandel is balanced through the palate with just the right amount of acidity. Great Zinfandel with complexity, mouth appeal and a finish that lingers.
