The progressive dinner in our building is a favorite event of mine because it carries little expense, requires very little planning and allows everyone involved to share in the hosting responsibilities. The concept for a progressive dinner is simple: You eat and drink your way from house to house of each couple “attending” the dinner. The fabulous menu is listed below:
Genine & Phil (cocktails): Gin Martinis, amuse-bouche of baby shrimp with spice tomato sauce served in a ceramic soup spoon followed by arugula apple-fennel salad.
Barby & Aldo (seafood): Coquilles Saint-Jacque (pasta shell with scallop and a divine cream sauce) served with a delicious Costa d’Amalfi Ravello Bianco from Campania Italy.
Us (main course): Roasted Pork Loin with a apricot demi-glaze and roasted root vegetables served with a Ridge Petite Sirah York Creek 1994 and a Turley Dragon Howell Mountain Zinfandel 2005.
Linda & Jay (dessert): Lemon custard with fresh strawberries with mint herbal tea.
